Thumb Song Handout

Sing the Thumb Song to help teach your beginning piano students their finger numbers! This simple song to the tune of Farmer in the Dell is a great way to engage your little students and to help them remember their finger numbers. It’s fun in a private or group lesson setting, and students can hold up their fingers when you sing the “1-2-3-4-5” part, or they can play along on a C major five-finger scale. The handout includes the notated song with the lyrics and a fun picture of a hand labeled with the correct numbers.

I like to put this handout in my students’ binders to take home so they can sing it at home during the week and practice their finger numbers.
