Christmas Sight Reading Challenge Tracker

Challenge students to sight read as many Christmas songs as possible this holiday season!

This Christmas Sight Reading Challenge Tracker is fun and festive. It has boxes for students to write names of songs/pieces they have sight read. I am having my students check out Christmas books each week a couple of levels below their method book level. (I have been collecting Christmas piano books; I labeled them with my name, put them in bins according to level, and numbered them to help me keep track.) The challenge is to sight read at least one piece per day during the Christmas season. Students write down the names of pieces they sight read. Each week, I will count how many pieces they sight read and we will add that many links to our studio paper chain! The goal is to see how long we can make the chain go around the studio. I will also keep track of how many pieces each student has sight read and the winner will get a prize.

Read below for links to the paper I am using for the paper chain. I am also using the Steps to Super Sight Reading handout along with this challenge to help especially my beginners learn how to sight read.

Studio-licensed digital download, 2 pages.

Description

I purchased this paper from Amazon for my paper chain – I like that it is double-sided and it looks so pretty! I cut it into 1″x6″ strips.
