Interval Strips & Guide

Help your piano students learn to identify harmonic intervals on the staff with this handy Interval Guide and Interval Strips!

The guide is a nice visual to show students as you talk about what an interval is – it includes harmonic intervals from 2nds to octaves on the staff. It helps students see that even-numbered intervals always include one line note and one space note, and odd-numbered interval notes always match (both line notes or both space notes).

Each Interval Strip includes a harmonic interval on the staff, its coordinating interval pictured on the piano keys, and the name of the interval. I like to cut mine out, punch a hole in the corners and connect them all with a binder ring. Then I can bring them out while teaching to reinforce and remind what each interval looks like.

These resources work great in tandem with the Interval Ruler to help students master identification of intervals!
