Piano Ensemble Strips – quick and easy piano ensembles for small to large groups
Each students’ part is a simple, short section of the piece that is repeated over and over. Parts are layered on top of one another, one at a time, creating a full and beautiful piece!
This ensemble works with anywhere from 5 to 24 pianists and ranges from an Elementary to a Late Intermediate level.
Play Tchaikovsky’s mesmerizing Arabian Dance from The Nutcracker with anywhere from five to twenty-four pianists! Parts range from elementary to late intermediate level, making this a fantastic piece for your whole studio to play together. The first six parts are simple, repeating ostinato parts that repeat for the entire piece. Start with part 1, then on the repeat add part 2, then 3, and so on, until all 6 repeating parts are playing. Then anywhere from one to eighteen students take turns playing the solo sections. You don’t need to play all 24 parts, you can mix and match depending on how many students you have playing. Includes 24 parts, a Teacher’s Score, an audio recording of the piece, optional solo sheets and optional cue cards.

We performed this at my spring recital and it was so much fun! It suited the size of my studio and age of my students and I wanted to try something different this year. I used 2 pianos, with 3 younger students playing ostinato on one piano, 2 more playing low ostinato parts on the 2nd, and the rest of my students playing the solo and harmony parts in family groups at the top of the second piano. (older sibling playing the melody while younger siblings play the harmony.) The solo performers lined up to play, and it went fairly smoothly considering we did not have a rehearsal with everyone.
