For America’s 250th birthday in the summer of 2026, I decided that my piano studio would spend the summer focusing on patriotic songs, piano pieces by American composers and American folk songs. Each student is learning a couple of pieces that fit into these categories, and I am planning a fun patriotic recital to take place in the early fall.
I have loved searching for American piano music and decided to put this resource together to help anyone else start their own repertoire search for their students! In this guide I have listed my recommendations in different categories, including piano works by American composers, folk songs, patriotic piano books, etc. I have included hyperlinks to make it easier to find the collections and to download or purchase.
Of course my list is not exhaustive, and there is so much more you can find from these composers and others. But I hope that this will help you in your search and will give you some great ideas for your own patriotic piano recital.
