Introduce your students to Germaine Tailleferre with this beautiful poster for your studio or classroom. For centuries, women have been writing music right alongside the men, but most students can’t name a single one. This poster helps change that! Hang it on your studio wall and let your students see the face of one of the women who shaped music history.

Germaine Tailleferre (1892–1983) was an influential French composer and the only female member of the 1920s group Les Six. A piano prodigy with an amazing memory, she went on to compose for seven decades.

This poster was carefully designed to be eye-catching and informative, and it includes Germaine Tailleferre’s name, dates, picture, and a few of her key accomplishments.

Description

Most of us grew up seeing posters of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven on the walls of our music classrooms. Those composers deserve their place, but the truth is that there were hundreds of women composing all throughout history whose music was performed, published, and celebrated in their day, and then largely forgotten. When students only see men on the walls, they get the message that composing is something men do.

With 5 print sizes to choose from, you can print it small for a bulletin board or large for a statement wall.
